
The Dallas Auction Gallery will follow its $ 1.6 million auction on November 16 with an exceptional art and decorative art auction on February 29 at 6 p.m. CST. This sale will feature exceptional signed French furniture from a local private collection. The collection includes a Louis XV Paul Sormani style chest of drawers, a Louis XV style cabinet in Linke mahogany, a Louis XVI style Grohe Frères writing table, an André Lardin Régence style tulipwood chest of drawers, and much more.

Highlights from the February 29 auction include:
1. Lot 170: Louis XV style chest of drawers Paul Sormani, the Aleppo breccia in shaped and molded marble on a cabinet with two bomb-shaped drawers, inlaid with elaborate floral marquetry and mounted with a gilded bronze of exceptional quality . The upper drawer lock plate stamped, “Paul Sormani 10r Charlot, Paris” and “P. Sormani Paris” stamped at the top of the front legs under the marble. Paul Sormani (Italian / French, 1817-1877).
Provenance: Ex Coll: Baroness Leigh who maintained residences in Geneva, Penzance and New York. Reputable, this dresser was purchased directly from Sormani in Paris in the 1860s for the family residence in Geneva and then moved to Penzance.
Estimate: $ 40,000- $ 60,000.00
2. Lot 164: Linke Louis XV style mahogany showcase with marble top shaped on a frieze mounted in gilded bronze, a single long door framed in gilt bronze and a shaped apron centered by a large gilt bronze plaque. Curved glass in the door and side panels. Signed on bronze mount, “F. Linke”. François Linke (French, 1855-1946).

3. Lot 138: Grohe Frères writing table in Louis XVI style, the body in oak tulip veneer on turned legs in solid violet wood. The top with leather writing surface on two writing slides and a long drawer, the frieze with a continuous border in gilt bronze with cherubs and foliage scrolls, and the fluted feet mounted in gilded bronze ending in clogs of rigid sheets. Twice stamped “GROHE Fres”. Grohe Frères (French, 1829-1885), founded by brothers Guillaume and Jean-Michel Grohe, participated in major exhibitions throughout the second half of the 19th century and supplied furniture to the great royal houses of France and d England, including Napoleon III’s apartments at the Persienne.

4. Lot 156: André Lardin chest of drawers in Regency style in rosewood with violet marble top, molded with breach on two short drawers, two long and a secret upper central drawer, having ornate bronze handles, escutcheons and fixings. Stamped “Lardin” and “JME”. André Antoine Lardin, Parisian cabinetmaker from the end of the 18th century.

5. Lot 176: Oval shaped center table inlaid with ivory, the top in quilted maple with a wavy border and ivory inlay with elaborate floral patterns and volutes, the banded border with additional ivory inlay, the aprons with a floral and scalloped ivory inlay, standing on four tapered square legs with dotted panels, carved shells and ivory bell flowers.

6. Lot 127: 14K and 1.95 ct. Fancy yellow diamond ring (GIA) in center round brilliant cut, fancy yellow diamond flawless inside, 1.95 cts., Flanked by a pair of pear shaped diamonds, 1.10 cts. approximate total, color GH, clarity VS, in a 14K white and yellow gold setting. Stamped, “14K”. 2.9 grams. GIA Report # 13686808.

7. Lot 174: 14 karat gold and 2.28 ct. diamond ring (GIA), the 2.28 ct. Round brilliant-cut diamond, color I, VVS2 clarity, in a 14K white gold setting. GIA Report # 110204027731. Stamped, “14K”. 2.8 grams.

8. Lot 169: Henry Stull, “Têtes à part” oil painting on canvas depicting a race at the Queens County Jockey Club on October 25, 1898 between: Kinnikinic, Warrenton and Swiftmas. Canvas: 25”H x 30”W; Frame: 38”H x 43.25”W. Signed lower right, “Henry Stull Copyright 1898”. Henry Stull (American, 1851-1913).

9. Lot 159: Tiffany & Co. clock with enamel decoration on the top and on three sides; an ornate finial on a domed top; the four corners with urn ends – the two cut sides in crown concealing a pair of cherubs flanking a gilded dial with Roman numerals, marked Tiffany & Co .; on a medallion panel decorated with enamelled cornucopias; the whole supported by four volute feet. The movement is a French style circular brass with a wound gong on the hour and half hour. In working order with pendulum and key. Movement marked, “Tiffany & Compy 3965 7 7” and a circular mark which reads, “Medaille d’Argent Vincenti 1855”.

10. Lot 165: Tiffany style stained glass window with three panels representing a meandering stream in a wooded landscape, the trees parting to reveal a mountain by a lake in the distance. Metal label signed “Tiffany Studios New York” lower left. Glass: 61.5”H x 59”L; with frame: 69.5”H x 66”W.
