Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Rolex Submariner for, like, ever. But, you know, they’re crazy expensive. So, I decided to try my hand at getting a really good fake one – a “super clone,” as some people call them. I went for the two-tone black Submariner because it looks so classy, you know?
First, I did a ton of research. I mean, hours and hours on those watch forums. I read everything about what makes a good fake and what gives it away. One of the first things I learned was about the weight. A real Submariner is pretty hefty, about 1.57 inches or 40 millimeters in diameter for the case. I made sure to ask the seller about the weight and size of the replica before I even considered buying it.
Then, I started looking at pictures – lots of pictures. I compared them to the real deal, trying to spot any differences. There was this whole thing about the minute hand. Apparently, on a real Rolex, the minute hand is kinda short and doesn’t go over the minute markers on the dial. On a lot of fakes, it’s too long. So, I zoomed in on all the photos, looking at that minute hand like a hawk.
- Weight and Size: Made sure the replica was the right weight and had the correct 40mm case diameter.
- Minute Hand: Checked if the minute hand was short and didn’t overlap the minute markers.
- Cyclops Lens: Examined the magnification window (Cyclops lens) for clarity and proper magnification.
I finally found a seller who seemed legit. They had good reviews, and the pictures looked promising. I messaged them a bunch of questions. One main thing that I focused on was the little magnifying bubble over the date window – it’s called the Cyclops lens. On the real ones, it’s super clear and magnifies the date just right. On a lot of fakes, it’s blurry or doesn’t magnify enough. I asked the seller for close-up pictures of the Cyclops lens and made sure it looked sharp and clear. They even sent me a video, which was pretty cool.
My Findings
After a few weeks, the watch finally arrived. I was so excited! I ripped open the package and there it was – my two-tone black Submariner. It looked amazing, I gotta say. It felt heavy, the minute hand was the right length, and the Cyclops lens looked perfect. I wore it around for a few days, showing it off to my friends. They were all impressed, and nobody could tell it wasn’t the real thing. They were like, “Wow, did you win the lottery?” and I just laughed and said, “Something like that.”
So, yeah, that’s my story of getting a high-end fake Rolex. It wasn’t easy, and I had to do a lot of research, but in the end, I’m pretty happy with it. It looks great, and I saved a ton of money. Would I do it again? Probably. It’s a good way to get the look without breaking the bank, but please do not do the things like what I did, it may be illegal.
Anyways, I just want to share my experience with you all! Hope it helps.
