Okay, so I saw this Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG the other day, and I was like, “Damn, that’s a fine-looking bag.” But then I saw the price tag, and I was like, “Nope, not in this lifetime.” But you know what? I’m a crafty guy. I figured, why not try to make one myself?
I started by just staring at pictures of the bag online. I mean, I really studied it. Every angle, every stitch. I was basically living and breathing YSL for a few days. The real one is probably some fancy leather, but I was thinking more along the lines of what I could get my hands on easily.

I found some decent-looking faux leather that I thought would do the trick. I also picked up some lining material, thread, and the hardware – you know, the buckles and stuff.

- Then, I cut out the lining pieces.
- Next, I started sewing the pieces together. This took some time, let me tell you. Sewing isn’t exactly my forte, but I was determined.
- After that, I attached the lining to the inside of the bag.
- Finally, I added the hardware. This was the trickiest part, but I managed to get it done.
It wasn’t easy, and it definitely took longer than I expected. There were a few times when I almost threw the whole thing in the trash. But I kept at it, and eventually, I had something that resembled the YSL bag. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. It’s got some rough edges, and the stitching isn’t exactly straight in places. I saw that if I consigned the real deal YSL bags, they usually cut 30% off the retail price. But hey, it’s mine, and I made it with my own two hands.
And you know what? I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a good reminder that you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get something you want. Sometimes, you just gotta get a little creative. If you want a good bag, a bag that’s gonna last you a long time, maybe you can get the best deals when you shop the largest online selection, I guess.
So, if you got the money and you want a bag that’ll last you a lifetime, go ahead and buy the real YSL. But if you’re like me and you’re on a budget, don’t be afraid to try making your own.
