Getting Started
First things first, I spent a ton of time just staring at pictures of the 5227G-010. I mean, really studying every detail. The real one is made of 18k white gold, which I definitely wasn’t going to use. But that’s part of the fun, right? Finding alternatives that work.
Gathering My Stuff
I couldn’t work with 18k white gold, I went for a decent stainless steel case instead. I found one that had a similar size and shape. The dial of the 5227G-010 is super clean, with those nice tapered hour markers and hands. I spent hours online and in a few local shops trying to find parts that matched up.

After all that work, I finally had something that looked pretty darn close to the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G-010, if you ask me. It’s got that classic, minimalist style, and it feels great on the wrist. It doesn’t have the same prestige or the price tag, but it’s my own little tribute to this iconic watch.
