Okay, so I decided to remake a YSL College bag. Don’t ask me why, I just felt like it. I’ve seen these bags around, and they look pretty neat, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, it’s not like I had anything better to do, right?
First things first, I needed to figure out what this bag was all about. I looked up some pictures online, studied the design, the stitching, the whole nine yards. It’s a pretty simple bag, but there are some details that you gotta get right. Like, the way the flap closes, and that little YSL logo, you can’t mess that up.
Next, I needed materials. I hit up some local shops, found some decent leather that felt good, looked the part. It wasn’t exactly the same as the original, but hey, it’s a remake, not a replica. I also picked up some hardware – buckles, chains, you know, the shiny stuff. They didn’t have the exact YSL logo thingy, so I found something similar. Close enough, I guess.
Then came the fun part – actually making the bag. I drew up some patterns based on the pictures I found, cut out the leather, and started stitching. Man, let me tell you, hand-stitching is a pain. My fingers were sore for days. But I kept at it, piece by piece, the bag started to take shape. It was kinda cool to see it all coming together.
Putting It All Together
Assembling the bag was like putting together a puzzle. Sewing the sides, attaching the flap, adding the lining – it was all a process. There were a few hiccups along the way. I messed up the stitching a couple of times and had to redo it. And let me tell you, taking out stitches is even more annoying than putting them in. But I powered through, and eventually, it all came together.
- Cut the leather pieces.
- Stitch the main body.
- Attach the flap and lining.
- Add the hardware.
Once the bag was assembled, I added the chain strap, and that was it. My very own YSL College bag, well, sort of. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it. It looked good, felt sturdy, and it was something I made with my own two hands.
So, there you have it. My little adventure in bag making. It was a fun project, a good way to kill some time, and I ended up with a pretty cool bag. Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I might try a different bag. Or maybe I’ll just go buy one, who knows?
