Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here watch, the Patek Philippe PP Calatrava 6007G-010. Folks say it’s a real fancy one, costs a heap of money, like, almost thirty thousand dollars! Thirty thousand dollars! Can ya believe that? That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life, I tell ya.
Now, they call it a “Calatrava.” Sounds like some kinda foreign disease, don’t it? But they say it’s been around for a long time, almost a hundred years! Ninety years, to be exact. Some fella named David Penney, he come up with the look of it. Said he got the idea from some “Bauhaus” thing. Don’t ask me what that is, sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a barn, ha!

This here watch, the 6007G-010, it’s made outta white gold. You know, the shiny stuff. And it’s got a black face, they call it “ebony black.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just plain black to me. They say it’s got some kinda “rhythmic geometry” on it. Don’t see no rhythm, just shapes. Squares and circles, I reckon. But I guess that’s what makes it so special, or so they say.
They also talk about a “Calatrava cross.” Says it’s been a trademark since 1887. That’s even longer ago! Don’t know what it looks like, but it must be important if they keep talkin’ about it. This Patek Philippe company, they seem real proud of it.
Now, this watch, it comes with a strap, a black one. Made outta calfskin, they say. Feels kinda soft, like a baby’s bottom, ha! And it’s got some kinda pattern on it, they call it “carbon motif.” Looks like little squares to me. But I guess it’s supposed to be fancy, like everything else on this watch.
They’re sellin’ these watches online now, you know. You don’t even have to go to a store no more. Just click a few buttons and poof, it shows up at your door. Well, not if you don’t got the money, like me. But for them rich folks, it’s easy as pie. Easy as pie! They just sit there in their fancy houses, clickin’ away, buyin’ watches that cost more than my house is worth.
I heard tell they got other Calatrava watches too, not just this 6007G-010. They got all kinds of different ones, different colors, different styles. But they all cost a pretty penny, I bet. This Patek Philippe company, they don’t make no cheap watches, that’s for sure. They’re for the high and mighty, not for the likes of us.
So, if you got a spare thirty thousand dollars layin’ around, I guess you could go buy yourself one of these here Calatrava watches. But me, I’d rather spend that money on somethin’ useful, like a new tractor or a good roof over my head. Watches are nice and all, but they ain’t gonna keep you warm in the winter or plow your fields, now are they?
But hey, who am I to judge? If folks wanna spend their money on fancy watches, that’s their business. Me, I’ll stick to my old trusty clock on the wall. It tells the time just fine, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. And that’s good enough for me, ya hear? Good enough for me!
